Result of My pitch

So this is my final post it was very interesting and exciting to express myself through this medium. Well today was my final five minute pitch and can i tell you it never worked out the way i wanted it to but that's life, not everything always go your way, just have to work hard at it next time learn from your mistakes. The result is that we did not have enough information. The first pitch we did we had all the information but we needed to work on our passion and drive because it was not there. So for this one we lessen the information to capture the investors attention and increased the amount of passion and drive we didn't utilized the last time and it didn't work out. We learnt that less is not always more and for every occasions there are different approaches. In my opinion this course has taught me a lot; i now know the importance of entrepreneurs both in Jamaica and worldwide and some of the strengths it take to push a idea to be converted into a business that is profitable and needed. Almost learnt that not all customers know what they want but it is important to listen to them, take their ideas but not all of them will work. Well so long for now. Shanz out

Pitching for a business

It is very important to always remember that when one is pitching a business idea never overwhelmed the investor. Remember not everything is important at this time; The best bet is to identify the key areas and sell the business like its your life. The investors have to feel the passion, dedication and drive to invest once they feel this and see that you understand; that takes the pitch a long way. Some key areas to always remember are Finances makes no sense to go pitch a plan you do not know your figures, Description you know your business depending like its your bible.On each business the key parts might vary but the two aspects mentioned above can never be left out. Never go over the time given to pitch so if you receive 5 try to go for 3 to 4; the shorter and spicy it is; is the better for you. Finally know all aspect of your business so that if a question should arise you can answer without hesitation and with confident. Always key these in mind you can never go wrong with a pitch.

Jamaican entrepreneur

I can truly say this class as taught me a lot about entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship. I had no idea that this sector was so important or that so many of them existed in Jamaica. we always say Chinese own everything but Jamaican's actually do own a number of things within the country. If the government would only recognized how  significant they are to country. Jamaica would be in a much better state less crime and violence as the youths would be encouraged to be "go geters"; The debt rate would not be so high we would utilize what we got because we have a lot and export more to get our country more widely known for its quality product and services. I agree not everyone can be a entrepreneur but if more are created more jobs will be provided for those who don't have the backbone/ courage to stand alone.

Importance of Entrepreneurship

The economy is in such a financial state that if more entrepreneurs are not located we are bound to final. Who knew that Jamaica land we love would be in this state. As the cartoon clips states "Thank god for mega mart" without mega mart one of the biggest entrepreneurial venture a lot more persons would be out of jobs and left to thief and kill just to survive. Who knew that entrepreneurs were so important. But with them this country would be in thermal and greater trouble. Yet still our country won't provide opportunities for these sectors and they expect the country to be without crime. When one man is hungry and the other is full and wasting What do they expect the hungry man to do? Entrepreneurship is the future for Jamaica and they need to develop more efficient and effective methods to get this know worldwide and within schools and encourage individuals to think big stop import and start creating so we can export and better the country instead of destroying. How can a unborn child be in debt that is madness. Jamaica wake up take a risk become a entrepreneur.

Issues Entrepreneurs Face

As mentioned previously i am a member of two entrepreneur class. In the new ventures class i was given the task of researching issues faced by entrepreneurs within in Jamaica i had no clue that they had so much issues and little did i know that they hold such a vital important role in a countries development. Some issues i found out that they faced were.

• High tax rates which leads to evasion of taxes
• Lack of support
• Keeping up with trends and changes
• Economic growth.

Are just a few of the issues individuals faces when starting a business or is a owner of a business. Therefore if one does not have the mind set to handle problems, take risk, compete, be a team player and to always get up when they fall. Entrepreneurship is NOT FOR YOU.

The journey to SUCCESS

Currently i am in the final lap of my school life, and can i say it is HARD; but i am trying my bested to keep focus and my eyes on the prize. For my final semester i decided to take two entrepreneurial classes one is within communication the other in new venture creation. So on Thursday April 19,2013 my group and i had to present a 20 min pitch of a business plan for the new venture creation class. This class started at 6 PM and should end at 9 PM, if the world could have opened up and take me in because of the way i left it would have. i was tired from not sleeping the night before, getting hungry and exhausted, even at the hour of 10 we were still waiting to present finally at 10:30 PM we went in and pitch our plan and we were told of the excellent job we did. I just use this story to illustrate how determine and a risk taker one has to be( because i was taking a risk travelling so late  night, with the set up of the countries crime level) to accomplish whatever one wants to succeed at. Also goes to show that without team work and  determination (we present our information together an did a great job) Nothing can get done as one person cannot always do everything. Therefore to be a good entrepreneur one has to be focus, determine and a risk taker; to complete dreams and aspirations. Without these qualities in individuals Jamaica will never change the state they are currently in and can never become a place that people can consider somewhere to make a future.

My heart goes out to all entrepreneurs, customer service representatives and overall persons who work for people everyday; man can i tell you it is such a huge task. Most individuals do not know what they want and they can never be satisfied makes you want to pull all your hair out.

its like if you are not focus they will have you there changing things every single minute. I am helping a friend and man if i was not determine to finish the project i would still be doing it. It was driving me insane and she is like 

I now see that entrepreneurs have to take stands and be focus, strategic , determine, optimistic and be able to communicate to handle all those different wants and needs. People think being your own boss is a easy task they need to thing again. Fulfilling all those needs and wants takes time and patience, Which are qualities entrepreneurs have to attain. Because if they don't they wont profit. Hats of to all entrepreneurs out there.

Shark Tank

I have miss a few blogs because i have been so busy with final year projects; but i made time because i was told to take a look at this television series Shark tank, man this was the best advised given to me man those sharks are dangerous. This show teaches us that if your not responsible, determine and focus you can not reach anywhere or make profits( be rich). Also without a good business plan or set up of the business no one will want to be apart.

this show, clearly demonstrates to  individuals that not every idea can be a product but one should never give up without trying.

Who really is a Entrepreneur

It is said a entrepreneur is someone who creates a new business in the face of risk and uncertainty for the means of gaining profit and growth. Therefore my question is can anyone by an Entrepreneur? based on research not everyone can be a entrepreneur because if one does not have the drive and determination it will not happen and most importantly if there is no idea for a business how can u be a entrepreneur. There are many myths associated with this topic examples of these are THEY  ARE DOERS NOT THINKERS and ENTREPRENEURS ARE BORN NOT MADE; these are false many persons owning there businesses today have proven theses myths to be wrong. My advice is if you want success it won't be handed to you you have to go for it. So in my opinion if the drive, determination and leadership skill is present individuals can be entrepreneur.

Hi everyone i am Shanique Reynolds, a student of the University of the West Indies Western Jamaica Campus, i am currently in my final year, completing my BA in digital Media Production. Has Steven Jobs said “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. i believe this is so true this is why i would like to be in charge of my business and own life in the future, this is the reason for selecting this course COMM 3248: Entrepreneurial Skills in the Communications Industry.  This blog as been created to just express my thoughts  and feelings on various subject matters associated with the subject and to just reinforce the information i have learn in terms and condition i like and understand.

 For one to become a successful entrepreneur; i believe these two quotes should always be kept in the back of our minds. The course COMM 3248: Entrepreneurial Skills in the Communications Industry; is a course that is here to inform and guide students of how to think out side of the box and how to go for what they ( the individual) want,i therefore consider it to be a important course to guide students especially CARIMAC students on the path of self success and self dependence.
The thing that stood out in my mind from the first class is the fact that when one is developing a business plan the essential thing that should be consider is the need of the client or consumer. Jamaica needs more Entrepreneurs now more than ever because if we rely on the government or the nation we ( the younger generation) are doom. Primary example of this: the SLB the student loan bureau, who is now having great difficult lending loans for 2013 academic year as the previous borrowers are unable to pay their fees because they are unemployed and others are now suffering. WE NEED A CHANGE. ENTREPRENEURSHIP is the way.
